OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
CBW PROUDLY LISTS THE FOLLOWING ACHIEVEMENTS:
- Held our first Women’s Conference on June 6, 2015 at Calvert County Baptist Church.
- Awarded over $40,000 in scholarship funds to the students of Calvert County Public Schools.
- Honored African American teachers who taught under the segregated Calvert County School System and partnered with College Southern Maryland to promote African American heritage in Southern Maryland, February 2012
- Health & Education Workshop presented by Calvert Memorial Hospital nurse Mary Bahen about Colorectal Cancer Screening, March 2012
- Participant Hospital’s Minority Outreach & Technical Assistance (MOTA) program which provides health education to the minority community
- Awarded 1st scholarship under the Women In Transition program to help women transition into new careers or to return to the workplace
- Member Closing the Gap (Education) Coalition
- Donated 20 children’s books to the“Read Up” Program sponsored by Southern Maryland Action Coalition (SMAC), Calvert Collaborative for Children and Youth (CCCY) and Calvert Library. Program purpose is to assist parents to engage in early learning activities that include reading with their preschoolers’
- Donated toiletry baskets to Ruth’s Miracle Group Home for women in a community transition facility, December 2011
- Joined the Southern Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce in 2012
- Established quarterly mentoring program with scholarship recipients
- May 2012 partner with Calvert County Commission for Women to celebrate the 40 year history of Title IX that focused on equality in education for women, June 2012
- Participant, National Voter Registration Day at College of Southern Maryland with League of Women Voters, September 25, 2012
