2015

  • Recipient of the 2015 Peace Builders Award from The Community Mediation Center of Calvert

2016

  • Awarded Walmart Foundation Grant

2016-2017

  • Established Annette J. Funn Co- Founder Community Excellence Award
  • Co-Founder Annette J. Funn recipient of Calvert County Commissioners’ Award.
  • Recipient of NAACP Service Award
  • Held First Youth Knowledge Empowerment Series: Young. Black & Focused @ The College of Southern Maryland
  • Co-Sponsors of the African American Women of Calvert County program for Women’s History

2017-2018

  • Conducted “Destined for Success” Mentoring Sessions for Calvert High School girls
  • Established the Calvert Local Scholarship Application program which enables graduating seniors from Calvert County Public Schools to compete for over $100,000 in scholarships offered by 49 local scholarship providers using a single application.
  • Earned the Mayland William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award.

2019

  • Earned the Governor’s Office Black History Month Community Leaders Award
  • Became a Bid Conversation Partner
  • Collaborated with Calvert County Public Schools and CSM on the inaugural Minority Institute of Leadership and Excellence (MILE) Conference
  • 121 students attended
  • Provide 16 sessions on goal setting, leadership, empowerment and a dynamic motivational keynote speaker.

2020

  • Hosted Zoom Dance Party for Calvert High School Students during pandemic

  • Hosted first Virtual Women’s Empowerment Scholarship Fundraiser

  • Hosted first Virtual M.I.L.E.- LEVEL UP (Lead, Elevate, Visualize, Embark, Lift, Unlimited Purpose) Conference

2022

  • Hosted 14th Annual Virtual Salute to Excellence Awards Fundraiser & Scholarship Luncheon
  • Keynote Speaker – Arthur McFarlane II, Great Grandson of Dr. W.E.B. DuBois

2023

  • CBW became co-signatures for Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) #28 to become an amendment for U.S. Constitution

Engaged in new community partnerships:

  • NAACP – MLK Day & Juneteenth Celebration
  • Calvert Library – upcoming community kindergarten reading program
  • Calvert Parks & Recreation

2024

  • Marks CBW’s 20th Anniversary of active service to the community
  • Since its inception, CBW has awarded over $120,000 in scholarships funds, supporting 70+ high school graduates to reach their goal of continuing their education
  • Hosted first Home Buyer’s seminar for Calvert County Community

Partnered with CCPS & CSM- M.I.L.E Conference 2023-2024:

  • 160 students attended
  • 8 sessions on goal setting, leadership, empowerment and a dynamic motivational keynote speaker.

2024-2025

  • Partnered with CCPS & CSM- M.I.L.E Conference 2024-2025:

  • Military Families Purple Up 5k Community Fun Run

  • Began our Youth Membership for girls in the Community
  • 11 high school students were added to our membership
  • This mentorship program aid becoming powerful leaders in the community.
